I bought this DVD player as the product specification said it played PAL and NTSC. It doesn't if you follow the instruction book provided with the machine. However, it does if you follow the instructions provided by Kalpesh. Easy to follow, even for someone like me who is completely non-technical. Thank you, Kalpesh!

this dvd player is light weight a good allround machine it can be turned into a multi region dvd player by using the following procedure

turn on dvd player
open disktray draw
press setup on remote control
navigate using the right arrow key to preferences
dont go into the list below
just enter number after you have preferences highlighted
enter the number 138931
press the up and down arrow to select region code 0
close draw and now you can play any region dvd from american through to chinese

just purchased this Phillips DVP3120 player after being somewhat totally frustrated by being unable to play other Region dvd's, despite my long and ardious searches on the internet for codes for my last dvd player. Which to my anguish was a total waste of time and I should warn other seekers of these famous hack codes, that it a costly price to pay for a code that may or not work, save your time and energy and simply purchase this model. Thanks to the advice given by Kaplesh and following his instructions I found his hack code instructions, spot on, now my player plays all regions, which has now opened up my life to the wonderful ability for to be being able to purchase and play all region's dvd's. Thank you Kaplesh, you're a true star.

Incidentally when putting in the batteries for the remote for the Phillips dvp3120. They face the same way, unlike most other players, Which face opposite directions.

Rating: - Good DVD player for the money

My previous DVD player was a £10 job from Richer Sounds - it lasted three years, with exceptionally good sound and picture quality.

Now, I'm guessing that the Philips DVP3120 is designed for use with a modern type television ie a LCD telly. Unfortunately I am still using a CRT widescreen - and the results aren't fantastic. The picture is ok (ish), but not what I'd've expected, same with the sound.

All in all, I'm pleased with the build quality of the unit, also the remote is light and easy to use.

As noted by a reviewer below - this DVD player doesn't remember where the DVD was if you switch it off. Fine if you're watching a 24 minute episode of a series, not so great if you're working your way through the collected works of Andrei Tarkovsky.

***Not recommended if you have a CRT idiot lantern. If you do, go for a cheaper model***

The one I bought was with USB flash slot as well, but could not find it. Although I bought it at amazon. Long story short very good DVd player for its price. Only downside is remote control buttons are not responsive. You need to press twice for the player to do what you asking it to do. Recommend, very good product
