Rating: - Open and Close...it does!
There is a way to open and close the DVD tray...something that is not in the instructions for the machine. If you hold the `stop` button in for a few seconds, the words `Open` appears and the tray opens up. Press and hold again to close the tray. I found this, as my VHS player has the same function and I tried it out! Great machine...i bought 3 of them and using one until that one wears out!

Minor petty criticisms aside, this is about the best value for money DVD player you are going to find.

Unless you're after something spectacular and have a fair bit more cash to splash, look no further. Plus, a few kind souls have been helpful enough to publish the region unlock code in their reviews, enabling you to watch any DVD from any region of the world.

I bought this as a present for my mother. If she can work it out, literally anyone can. Just be sure to buy a SCART cable seperately, because it doesn't come with one - which brings me to my single criticism of this product...

Why doesn't this item ship with a SCART cable? You need a SCART cable to use it, so why isn't one included? Ridiculous, if you ask me!

Thought about time i buy a dvd player .And having chosen this have to say is easy to set up just plug in to your scart socket and its ready to play .Picture play back is very clear, and sound when playing cds are excellent .very pleased with my buy

having read the reviews & hack for this great dvd player,i asked for TWO
for christmas as i have TWO 32 ins lcd tvs. christmas day brought both players home & followed the hack instructions & hey presto! r1 test & anything you throw @ it ,this dvd plays it.the hack was so easy almost anyone could do it,i say almost because my mate could'nt, he sat for 6 weeks with the subtitles on screen in japanese before i switched them off
on his dvd player!

This a nice little DVD player for my bedroom and does 99% of what I would want it to (shame about the lack of zoom or picture rotation in the photo-viewing mode though.)

I was relieved it could play VCDs, which means I can still keep those discs.

The hack mentioned earlier works wonderfully and I can now watch my non-UK discs quite happily - which is what really makes this a brilliant little machine.
