Rating: - Buy it for the 3.5mm jack, not for the earphones.
This product is well worth buying because it provides a 3.5mm jack in to which you can plug any headphones you want whilst also providing the handsfree mic and call answer button. There are plenty of dirt cheap generic brand adapters that provide the 3.5mm jack but not the mic and button.
With regard to the earphones I consider them to be functional and that's all. Unlike some other reviewers I certainly wouldn't praise the quality of sound they produce. Put them in a drawer and leave them there until you need some earphones right away and nothing else is available. Buy some some Sony MDR-ED21LP Groove Shaped Earpiece headphones to use instead. They're very reasonably priced and far superior.

Nicer looking, and SLIGHTLY better sounding than the standard SE headphones that came with my phone
BUT..
Sound quality is RUBBISH compared to my Senheiser headphones I use with my portable dvd player
AND..
The headphones themselves are really really SHORT so they're useless without the (long) adapter cable
SO..
All in all, for the price (£4.00) not bad but do yourself a favour and spend a bit more on some Senheisers and a cheap adapter from a well known auction site

Rating: - Adapter is good but headphones are useless.
I have very mixed feelings about this product. I wanted a replacement for the headset I got with my phone and with this I thought I'd found the answer. When I received this product I was unimpressed with what I had just paid for. The adapter is fine and does exactly what it says on the tin, you can use any standard headphones with the right sized jack and it works well.

The headphones were a joke, they looked second hand and the sound quality was similar to an old gramophone. If you want a cheap adapter then by all means buy this product and bin the headphones but please do not buy it for the headphones alone.

Rating: - Another 'faulty connection' complaint
As a few reviewers have already mentioned, it doesn't take very long (under 3 months, in my case) for the plug unit to develop a faulty connection that has the left earpiece die on you.

I reckon the reason is more because of the way the wire gets bent/stretched/pulled from being in your pocket all day. It's something Sony Ericsson should do something about.

The pair I got had a weird frequency response. The bass was too loud and muddy. This problem was entirely to do with the earpieces and not the adapter unit. I know this because I plugged other headphones in and they sounded as good as they should have. I don't know if I got a faulty pair (in all honesty, I suspect I got a fake set) but a little EQ-ing fixed that. It wasn't spectacular, but it was reasonable. In any case, don't expect fantastic audio quality for >£5.

I've had to buy these headphones for the second time because of this fault. I don't particularly mind because it's under a fiver, but I do wish they'd last more than 3 months. For that I give it 3 stars. Probably worth 4 considering the price.
