Rating: - Top quality headhones in a tiny and comfortabel package.
These Sony's really are top notch for the £25 I paid for them. I have a pair of Bang & Olufsen Form 2s as well and sumtimes I really do find it hard to tell the difference in terms of sound reproduction and the bass that both headphones offer and the B&Os are twice the price!
The only minor niggles I have with these are that the cord is too long and that not one of the sizes of earbud supplied completely fits my ear, hence I still get a small amount of ambient noise coming through.
I am considering upgrading though to a pair of seinheisser cx 500s..wondering whether there would be any difference?
Overall, top value, top quality on the go headphones.
Rating: - Good sound - poor reliability.
I've been buying this style of headphones from Sony for a few years. For inexpensive phones the sound is good, both in keeping external noise out and stopping the leakage so prevalent with most in-ear phones (nasty white iPod headphones being the worst culprits by far).
BUT, and it's a Jennifer Lopez-sized but(t).... I've had two pairs of EX71s this year and both of them have completely lost sound in one earphone within 3 months of daily light use (no running or rain). I consider this unacceptable.
My previous models had a very soft rubber cable that disintegrated with heavy use eg gym, but they still work after 3 years, even with the bare wire showing through. It seems Sony have replaced a minor design fault with a major one - shoddy build quality.
In summary, beware - and head over to Sennheiser instead.
Rating: - Good in many ways....awful in others!!
I should have loved these headphones, I got used to using iPod headphones and lets be honest, their not the greatest in headphone technology!! But, having spent my 19.99 I was expecting a good sound, nothing life changing but I was expecting something really good. The problem I found was that they just didn't fit that well. The sounds was ok, when I pushed these headphones into my ear the sound was great. The bass was defined and the treble was clear. The mid range bass seemed a little lost in these headphones but thats to be expected I suppose.
But, really, I dont think I have exceptionally shaped ears or anything particularly odd in the shape of my ear. These headphones had three different sized ends and they none of them seemed to fit very well. The middle sized ones were the best but once I had them in they didnt stay in very long. They fell out all them time and when they did fall out the ends would fall off. So I was left with very average sounding headphones that didnt fit particularly well and the ends fell off all the time which meant I was constantly leaning over picking them up because its not cheap to buy new ones!!
I'm sure if they fit you these would be quite good headphones but even then I think I would recommend looking at others first. For me....well I think I might go back to my old iPod headphones, they dont cost any extra and the sounds pretty good, even without the extra piece in your ear they stay in pretty well!!
Rating: - Great sound but can be annoying
I've had these for about 3 years, when one pair seemed to melt, sony sent me a new pair free, and this has been fine for a long time.
The sound is outstanding, and unlik other brands of in-ear headphones, seem to be good quality for their smaller price. SMall prices aren't what i usually associate with sony, but their products very rarely break on me.
However, the cord for the headphones when in your ears reaches down to about your chest. They solve this by giving u an extension cord. WHY NOT JUST MAKE THE ORIGINAL THING LONG ENOUGH??.
The main problem with this is the part where the 2 pieces join, weighs down and pulls on the ear-pieces, unless u put it over the top of one part of clothing. you can't really run with them in either, and u can't clip them down. i've put up with them until now, but u don't see hte cord in it's pictures.
im going to go for the mdr-ex32 as they don't have that problem.
it's stupid, and i dont see who could reach their trouser pockets with it.
Rating: - Awful
Sent these back - I read the mediocre reviews of Apple's own earphones for the iPod and thought these would be better. Trying any of the three adaptors made no difference. Had to turn the volume right up to hear anything.
