To those of you who say oh well you must be using bog standard equipment i assure you I am not, so people keep ur money and spend it on some decent dvds or an xbox, believe me you will have a lot more fun Rating:  - samsung BD-P1500 blu-ray disc playerGot a this samsung blu-ray player a few days ago, and i am over the moon with the quality of it for such a small price. the only thing i would say is that the machine is a little noisey when first loading, but after that its very quiet . would definatly recomend . Danni in Yorkshire Rating:  - nice picture, pity about the interfaceThe loading time is slow, but then this is the same for most players. However, the picture you cannot fault, it's simply brilliant. I have a number of BD-Live films but all generate the same networking error. It isn't a network fault as firmware upgrades are fine. But I don't know if it is simply the site it is connecting to is down or not. But there are a number of flaws/features that I would hesitate in not recomending it, both linked to hdmi. 1. Whenever you disconnect the hdmi lead (I have a hdmi switch box) the player resets from your screen setting (usually 1080) down to the basic 576, so every time I want to watch a film I have to go through the same process of resetting the details and rebooting the box. 2. Again linked to the hdmi, the player has an auto on as soon as you go to the channel linked to the player. Which is nice if you want it to do this, but you cannot disable it. So, whenever I want to switch to the other device on my hdmi switch box the bluray turns itself on and changes channel. Rating:  - AMAZING!!!!THis blu-ray is fantastic, in my opinion just as good as top of the range models, and better than othr lower priced ones such as the sony. It comes with two free blu-ray disks to get your collection started, and amazing at the time i bought it had a deal where they provided an extra free one, so 149 with very quick delivery via city link, and three free top disks is dirt cheap. the unit itself is very well made, and very stylish, with a shiney black front matching many samsung tvs, the lcd screen is invisibe when turned off making the unit looks very pleasing. picture quality and sound quality is breath-taking, even on a 1080i 19inch hd samsung tv, dvd upscaling made me feel i had a new dvd, the fw update is easy, download file from samsung website, put on ram stick- put ramstick in player, i have had no isues of dvd malfuntion ect, and i beleive that those reports came from testing with the old firmware, and the new one, 2.0 corrects it, the rmote control is very well made, and is almost identical in shape to a samsung tv one, it can control tv input, turn tv on, change chanel/volume, and select tv input, as well as full blu-ray options- the 2.0 update even adds the one little thing the sony had over it, something called '24'? which makes the frmae rate at 24 meaning disks are played at cinema rate, surposingly improving picture quality, so in conclusion there is nothing that the sony has over this player- this player is the best, don't read any of the geek tech reviews saying ... Read More Rating: - Excellent quality productI bought this as part of a package with a Samsung 40" 7 series Samsung LE-40A786 - 40'' Widescreen 1080P Full HD TV - With Freeview . The quality of the picture is excellent, with an incredible depth on Hi-Def pictures (I thought that HD was a bit of a hype until I bought this). The ability to upscale 'older' DVDs is extraordinary; it feels like I'm watching some DVDs for the first time e.g. Goodfellas, Heat, Miller's Crossing, Godfather, and so on. The range of changes you can make to the picture quality mean that you will always find a setting that works for you. It is difficult to tell the difference between digitally remastered DVDs and Blu-Rays when you use this. The sound - with SRS (on the TV) - is very impressive - and again has a number of different settings that can satisfy even the most awkward reviewer. The volume (on the TV) is very loud (even at 50%) for an average size sitting room, and there really is no need for extra speakers or a surround system. At present, the player has had no problems dealing with copies DVDs, or ones that have slight scratches on them. It does take about 30 seconds to read a DVD, but that 'lag' is not a problem for me. I have yet to update the firmware, by the way. Highly recommended and very impressed. (P.S. I spent ages researching online and reading AVFORUMs and the like - very petty 'geek' stuff - ignore).
