I am very happy with its features and navigation. Just take time to set it up, update it regularly and you won't have any problems (unlike one reviewer!). However, I have found a couple of things you should be aware of: The instructions for the cd installation are for Windows XP and I have Vista. You need to download separate sync software and the windows mobile centre to enable you to set it all up. This is very simple as Vista/Windows update recognises what you are trying to do and automatically finds it for you. The sat nav does not recognise mini roundabouts i.e. the small painted ones or ones slightly raised above road level. However, I checked a friend's different sat nav and his doesn't do it either so it may be a common error on all sat navs. You don't get a hard copy user manual. It is on the cd provided and is 114 pages long!. You do get a one-sheet quick start guide. I need the sat nav for work, so works laser printer came in handy to print off the manual. The good stuff now! It picks up your GPS position very quickly. Battery life is about 6 hours (my tip is to let it fully discharge on first use then fully charge it up). The mount is sturdy, no shudder and fully adjustable. It calculates your route very quickly. If you turn wrong, it re-calculates immediately and tells you to turn round etc. There are loads of extra features and the free safety camera ... I love the quick search which means If I don't have the exact address information I can put bits of information in and always find what I am looking for - like a google search Also the homesync as lots of great features. You can update your device as often as you want including important things like saftey cameras, but you can do lots more with it like download lonley planet guides etc many of which are free of charge. The directions on the screen are really clear. It visually shows you your next manoeuvre and then your next manoevre after that so you can prepare yourself and get in the right lanes. This is really helpful in busy towns and cities. Also, when you are on the motorway it puts up the junction signs on the screen so you know what you are looking for. You wont be dissapointed Rating: - RAC 300 sat navwhat a total letdown ... So what is WRONG with the highly pairsed satellite technology? I need to visit local houses over a small area in the evening. tighly packed area,many dead ends. All mapped though. I carefully install my new rac300 and it takes me almost to the first address (by postcods). Although I am not in fact 'now at your position' I am not far away. from there it got progressively worse. the right postcode would be inserted; I would wait for the connection; follow the instructions, only to be told immediately in a slightly panicky ( very repetitive way...) 'turn around when you can!'. I tried this four or five times, never in fact made connection with any of my addresses. By now it was dark. The helpline number on the instrument is closed outside office hours!!! so I wasted an evening, and tonight have to resort to typing out specific road by road maps and strictly following my own decisions. what a bummer. Shall I return this for refund, or do I have a dodgy unit? Rating:  - Very lackingI owned this product for a little over a week before returning it where I bought it from. To start, it's database for UK post codes is not complete. it also misses a lot of towns and villages, meaning that some of my destinations had to be laboriously found on its map by scrolling through it. Also, it's database removes things like hyphons from place names, but the search doesn't ... so if you're looking for an odd place name, you've got to know in advance how the database has mangled it before you stand a chance of finding it. Despite having an option to avoid motorways, it doesn't have an option to avoid very minor roads and when closer to country destinations it has no aversion to directing you down dirt tracks and single file roads; so when it then wants you to go the wrong way up an out of the way one way system, or turn a very sharp turning which is impossible to make in a car (which it did to me) without going further down the road and turning around, it turns an otherwise pleasent journey in to a nightmare. A big fault is that on some roads, if the road goes around a corner and has a junction at its apex, it can tell the driver to turn right (when the road actually simply bends to the right); but more annoyingly, if it actually wants you to take the apex junction, becuase it thinks it is one and the same road, it doesn't say anything ... that is until you drive around the corner and then it tells you to do a u turn.
