Rating: - Take the stress out of driving
If you, like me, are cursed with absolutely no sense of direction or, worse still, the conviction that setting off 180 degrees to the destination simply feels right, then this is the tool for you. Stuck to your windscreen, and quickly removed to slip into its travelling case to avoid theft, it displays:
- the road ahead (green)
- approaching junctions (blue) with an arrow head when the you've reached the correct exit or turn-off
- total mileage remaining
- estimated time of arrival (and also current time)
- your speed and the speed you could/should be doing - your own speed is shown in red if you exceed the limit
- approaching speed cameras (with audio alert)
- other landmarks - railway lines, rivers, lakes, petrol stations etc.
Best of all is the bottom left hand corner when it shows you how long you have before you next have to think about anything. Obviously in town this is frequently, but on a longer journey, it can invite you to relax and enjoy the trip for the next 80 miles or so.
If you use the voice feature, which has adjustable volume and accents, you'll hear a warning before being talked through the manoeuvre e.g. "in 300 yards, cross the roundabout - take the 2nd exit...................cross the roundabout, take the second exit."
USB connection to your PC allows you to update maps.
I talked myself into buying this quite easily on the grounds that, at today's petrol prices, ... Read More

Been meaning to get a "proper" satnav for ages as I only have one on my Nokia N95.
Some gadgets are complicated to use and some are easy to use, this tomtom is in a category all on it's own: easypeasylemonsqueezy.
I turned the unit on and got a GPS signal within 20 seconds - I was inside too - I followed the simple on screen instructions and was planning a trip to the local supermarket within seconds. It was brilliant!
This version comes with the case, which is a great addition as it keeps your tomtom nice and snug and protected.
An absolute must buy!
Rating: - Very good indeed
Trawled through loads of reviews before settling on this one, I was thinking more expensive would be best but the over £200 navs all have such mixed reviews I decided to try my luck with one that didn't have any. I'd borrowed a Garmin previously so when I got my tom tom out of the box and saw the screen size is smaller I was a bit worried but I've used it loads and it hasn't been a problem at all. Also the Garmin I'd borrowed took ages to lock onto the satellites but my TT has always locked on immediately so really pleased. I havn't tried out the places of interest options but I did have fun testing all the different accents you can choose! I have to say over all I'm really pleased, I think I made the right choice and the price isn't bad either. It comes with a little box for the screen but it's not big enough for the wire, and sucker wotsit so i've marked it down for that.
