Rating: - Good quality - no coasters here
I've used these disks (written/read/reformatted) many times over with no problems.
I've written/erased/played the disks using a JVC DRM10 DVD Recorder and an MSI DVD Recorder on my PC (Nero under Windows, k3b under Linux), and also played back on a Sony DVP-NS305.
They can handle full 2x write speed (unlike some disks, which cannot match their rated speeds).
The only drawback I can find is that the max speed is 2x which nowadays feels rather slow (newer DVD-RW disks can handle 4x write speeds).
Overall, I give a 5-star rating as they perform as stated on the label and have not failed once over the last year of use.
Rating: - Great product, but be careful!
I bought these for use in a TV-DVD recorder. I didn't spend too much time shopping around, I wanted some rewritable disks so I bought some. They arrived promptly as ever, I opened the box and after a mere 15 minutes of trying to get through the cellophane I popped the disk into the recorder and set out to record some TV. At this point I was told that I needed to insert a recordable disk. With a sinking feeling I coaxed another disk from its cellophane stronghold and tried that one. The same message. Time to read the manual.
These are DVD-RW. My recorder only writes to DVD+RW. After convincing my girlfriend that it wasn't my fault, I was able to swap them with a pack at work (our DVD writers aren't as fussy) and they work fine in the right drive (likewise the right disks work fine in my drive).
I have since done the research and the difference comes from way back when DVD's were first being invented. There were 2 different teams of developers, one team created the DVD-R/RW disk and the other invented the DVD+R/RW. DVD+R/RW disks have a very slightly higher capacity, but DVD-R/RW disks are cheaper to create. DVD-R/RW were developed by Pioneer and are supported by Apple, while DVD+R/RW are supported by Sony, Microsoft, Philips, Dell and many others. Most new drives support both but just make sure you check.
In summary, these are great disks if they are the right ones for your drive, just don't be a plonker like me and assume you know best.
