Rating: - A good, simple product
Firstly, I would like to mention that unlike many of the previous reviewers, I have experienced no problems with the 'magic eye' which enables a remote control to work on the second TV. In fact, this is, in my opinion, the best feature of this product, as long as someone else isn't trying to watch another channel, as this can lead to long and arduous 'remote control wars'! As for the product itself, it sends perfect digital quality pictures to the second TV which is matched by the sound. The only problem I have found is the signal can interfere with other things (I have wireless broadband which was affected, for example) but this should not put anyone off purchasing as unless there are many different wireless products being used in the same house this can be overcome by simply changing the signal channel using a simple, accessible switch on the back of the sender unit. All in all, this is an excellent product that is simple to use and, indeed, set up. I have marked down one star simply because of its price which I feel is high compared to others on the market, although if you want to be certain you are getting a quality product and are prepared to pay for peace of mind, this is the one for you.
Rating: - An excellent piece of kit
I bought the digisender to link my Sky installation to a second TV - It is a breeze to set up and within minutes I was enjoying superb quality pictures and sound with no interference whatsoever. The transmitter does not appear to be affected by portable phones, and I even had the microwave oven on with no interference.
Forget wires around the house, if you want to extend your Sky, DVD / Video to other rooms around the house this is the way to go. Highly recommended!
Rating: - Great product. Does what it says on the box!
If you're looking for a cheap alternative to buying all that cabling, or the expense of having a second sky box installed for your bedroom this is ideal. It is very easy to set up. Only issues as follows:
1. When connecting transmitter, you should have it as far away from anything that may cause interference as possible, like a television (?) Same goes for the receiver on your second tv.
2. The 'magic eye' infra red remote control relay should be positioned near your transmitting equipment's infra red output. Be wary of other appliances nearby which also transmit infra red. Found at first couldnt change the channel of the TV because of the magic eye in the way! This is definitely what I found the most fiddly part, but when you get the position of it, it's worth it.
3. Some intereference from microwave oven and occasionally from possible power tools from neighbours, but on the whole very good!
Pros: 1. Apart from magic eye fiddling, very easy to set up.
2. Remote relay works a treat.
3. Quality picture and nice stereo sound.
3. Works with other systems as well, eg DVD, video, stereo.
4. Both neighbours have Sky and had no problems with channel switching. Not sure if they have their own Digisenders though.
Hope this is some help!
Rating: - No Interefrence for me
I've been using this unit for over a year, without a hitch. It's easy to set up and provides great picture quality. I was surprised to see all the negative comments on here about this kit. It's obvious that there are some problems, but here's my experience (tailored in reference tro the comments about channels switching). I've used the kit in two different houses. The first was terraced 1960s build. I set the system up to send Sky to my TV upstairs. It worked a treat. I had one night in 6 months when there was about a half hour of intereference on the set. Neighbours on one side also had Sky - on the other they didn't. No problem with channel changing as other reviews have noted. Second home is a semi-detached. Sky users on both sides of me. Similar set up. Still no problems.
Rating: - AEI DIGISENDER
The two stars in this rating are considering the video signal and good picture quality received. As for the remote sending facility...NIGHTMARE....you're neighbours will become your no.1 enemy when you are watching that big movie on saturday night to only get switched over to the shopping channel at the good bit. There is no way around this problem if you think switching to one of the other 4 transmit channels will resolve the issue...nope....because the carrier for the remote signals stays the same and as all sky remotes use the same relay frequency...you're stuffed...!! AEI have apparently brought out a new unit called 'DIGISENDER-GOLD' which amazingly incorporates 16, yes 16, relay switchable channels to "avoid interference from a neighbouring system"...looks like they thought of this after the problem emerged...!!
