Rating: - Brilliant TV
I bought this tv because I needed new TV which was compatible with region 2 dvds, and the price was much lower than other similar quality brand 14inch tvs. The FM radio is very good, it picks up a wide range of stations with good quality. This TV is very light to carry, and the picture does not do it justice, it looks much better in real life. At just £75 this TV is a bargain, I would recommend it to anyone!
Rating: - Great value TV
It's difficult to come up with anything new to say about this TV that hasn't been mentioned in a review already. It is also the best-selling portable set on Amazon which says a lot too!
It is well-built, sturdy and although rather curvy in the screen area, generally looks pretty cool. It has great features: stereo sound (including a surround sound feature which is okay), teletext, SCART socket, front A/V and even a built-in FM radio - which works very well. There is also a sleep and wake-up timer.
The menu system is clear and easy to use, which makes a nice change for a budget-level TV. There is plenty of control over the picture and sound settings, and tuning channels is a breeze. General picture quality is superb, and sound is nice and clear with plenty of punch.
The remote control appears to be very similar, if not the same, as the control Philips bundle with their much larger widescreen TVs. It is well laid out and even includes video controls, although unfortunately they do not appear to work with my Philips DVD recorder.
The TV is also remarkably light and despite looking quite wide, does not really take up too much space.
I based my purchase on the positive Amazon reviews, and I'm glad I did. For £85, you would be very hard pushed to find a better portable television. This is a cracking buy.
Rating: - Philips 14PT2666
I bought the tv because my 14 year old Sony has big problems with scart sockets and av inputs also the tuner no longer works.. So I was looking for a replacement with equally as good with longevity and performance thrown in.. I've had it a day and these are my thoughts thus far.. the picture quality is good probably as good as the old Sony.. The picture controls are very extensive and allow for fine adjustment. The screen itself is quite rounded but when viewing for a short distance away you wouldn't notice this.. The sound quality is average not really suprising given the limitation of the size and placement of the speakers. I wasn't buying the TV for the sound only the picture and as I couldn't get hold of the non nicam version I bought this model instead which, according to Philips, has the same tube and picture controls anyway. So in summary the picture is as good if not better than my old Sony the sound is ok but not really required to be fantastic. It could benefit from a second Scart socket . The radio is quite a nice touch. The remote control is a little cluttered though. All in all comparing the quality to say the Sony in price this is a good buy..
Rating: - Stunning Little TV
Wow, this is one stunning little TV, has all the features you get on a big TV, but all this, is in such a small TV its amazing.. The picture quality is sharp and bright, my eyes are still adjusting to the colours, the sound quality from this TV is superb, no tinny sounds, nice balanced sound. All in All i would recommend this TV anyone, simply stunning for the price and size of the unit, and perfect for a small room or even a kitchen.
Rating: - Excellent for the price
This TV is very good for the price. It has very good on screen menus, excellent picture quality and decent sound. On a lot of small "portable" TV's the casing is usually so flimsy it resonates at certain volumes. This one does not, giving a clear, loud sound. The bass is a bit weak but it is small set after all!
The screen is very curved which is a little disappointing but similar sized CRT flat screens are significantly more expensive so it's not such a problem.
It only has 1 scart socket. It also has a aerial coaxial socket and FM aerial socket. There are several RCA sockets on the front for connecting video cameras.
Overall it's a really good TV. Is it worth an extra £30 over an unbranded one? Yes it is. The build quality, the image and sound are all excellent. It's just a pity the screen isn't a bit flatter.
